The Bethel AME Church offers a perfect opportunity to continue a local Johnson County tradition of community, public gathering, service and fellowship. Built in 1911, this National Register of Historic Places member retains aspects of its post-Civil War elegance including original hardwoods and architectural references to a past honoring local progressiveness from Franklin’s earliest African-American settlement, the first significant population of African Americans in Johnson County.
